The small town of Lovran is located on the eastern coast of Istria, and on the west coast of the Bay of Kvarner.
Surrounded by the tall, thick pine trees and situated on the slopes of Ucka Mountain, embodies the spirit of the Mediterranean.

This little town was one of the earliest settlements in this region. Named after the laurel, which grows wild in abundance in the surrounding area. Old ancient name of Lovran was Lauriana - which translated simply means "city of laurel."

The old city was surrounded by defensive walls and bastions, and on that foundation people built their houses that now make the old part of the city.

You can visit the old town and visit the gallery - the former tower, Church of St. George, the former sanatorium in Lovran - spa or stroll along the seaside promenade of Franz Joseph I. The promenade is 14 km long, starting from Lovran to the end of the small fishing village of Volosko.

Tourists can relax on the many terraces or enjoy sunbathing and swimming in one of the two city beaches or on small pebble beaches located in many bays.

Hikers can follow one of the hiking routes from Lovran or Medveja`s that lead  to the top of Učka Mountain.

Some of the events that you can see and enyoj in Lovran have become its tradition: 

Days of asparagus in April,   

Days of cherries - "Cherry Days" ,  

the rich summer season with numerous exhibitions, concerts and fishing parties.

in early autumn very popular Marunada  - Chesnut ceremony. Lovran is known by its  special kind of sweet chestnut of exceptional quality.
